San Antonio: March is Contemporary Art Month

March is Contemporary Art Month (CAM) in San Antonio. Started in 1986 by the director of Southwest School of Art and Craft in what is now the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, CAM became an independent project in 2003. The organization’s primary purpose is to organize and distribute a calendar of institutional and grassroots contemporary art events taking place in San Antonio during the month, as well as sponsoring a number of events. In 2010, CAM officially moved from July to March.The organization promotes all contemporary art forms, citywide, assembling and distributing a calendar of institutional and grassroots contemporary art events taking place in San Antonio during the month, as well as sponsoring special events.

San Antonio Open Studios:

The Neo-Automatic Studio Tour takes place on March 19 across the city. Artists will welcome visitors to their studios to witness first-hand San Antonio’s creativity in the making.  Participating artists include Susan Carlin, Thomas Cummins, Mira Hnatyshyn, Diana Kersey, Melinda Martinez, and Sid St. Onge. Participating collectives include Clamp Light Studios, the DIY Factory, Pintura Artwork Company, and Studio 455. CAM closes the month-long celebration on Friday, March 25 with The Cammie
